About the role
We are welcoming applications for a Specialist Anaesthetist (SMO) to join the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki. The department supports a wide range of clinical services including anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine, and intensive care.
Responsibilities
- Provide anaesthesia, perioperative, pain medicine, and intensive care services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in an intensive‑care daytime roster and an after‑hours 1:7 on‑call roster.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to emergency situations and provide expert medical care to critical patients in the ICU.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Contribute to clinical practice improvement, education, quality improvement, and research initiatives.
