Description
The Cable Technician will support the installation, termination, testing, and documentation of a structured cabling system for EPA’s ICT infrastructure. This includes full lifecycle delivery—from pathway preparation through certification and closeout—while adhering to BICSI, ANSI/TIA, and NEC standards.
Core Responsibilities
• Install Cat6 and Cat6A plenum-rated cabling (2 drops per WAO and WAP location)
• Route cabling via J-hooks, ladder racks, conduit, and cable trays
• Terminate cables to patch panels and RJ45 jacks (T568B standard)
• Maintain required slack (15 ft for WAOs / 25 ft for WAPs)
• Install and secure racks, cabinets, PDUs, and cable management systems
• Label all infrastructure per TIA-606 standards
• Perform certification testing (Fluke or equivalent)
• Ensure compliance with clearance, fill ratio, grounding, and firestopping requirements
• Support as-built drawings and final documentation package
