Consultant - Obstetrics & Genecology

Responsibilities

1. Provide surgical care both in the operating room and in the O P D for gynecologic and obstetric conditions for both emergency and planned procedures.
2. Cover the Delivery Room to include admitting patients, reviewing their history, planning a course of action, performing both spontaneous and operative deliveries, and interacting with midwives.
3. Cover the Emergency Service by promptly responding to calls for consultation.
4. Do and interpret ultrasound examinations both in hospital and on an out‑patient basis.
5. Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and take appropriate action.
6. Carry out formal and informal consultations from physicians on other services.
7. Interact with patients and families to keep them informed of the patient’s condition, changes in condition and plans.
8. Support continuous quality improvement by developing and promoting appropriate standards of care.
