Job overview
The department in Blackburn is a integrated Urology outpatients, ward and offices. The Urology ward is based on B14. The dedicated Urology outpatient’s suite has facilities for flexible cystoscopies and transperineal and transrectal ultrasound and prostate biopsies. The department also has two Holmium:YAG and one Thulium-fibre laser machines that are used for endourology. In addition, there is two TULA laser machine to enable flexible cystoscopy and bladder tumour ablations procedures in the out-patient setting.
The department is an accredited cancer centre for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network where the major pelvic cancer surgery is split between East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and one other provider. The trust has three NHS commissioned
