The Cooperman College Scholars Program (CCS Program), based in Newark, promotes college completion of underserved, but high achieving students attending Rutgers University-Newark.
One critical component for each Cooperman College freshmen is being mentored for two years by a full-time RU-N faculty or staff member.
The Cooperman Mentor will mentor up to 10 CCS freshmen throughout the 2026-2027 academic year and may be re-appointed for a second year.
Key duties include:
Meet one-on-one with each Scholar bi-weekly.

Support Scholars on campus, motivate them towards graduation, and connect them to campus resources.

Stay in touch with the Cooperman College Scholar’s Director of College Success to update Cooperman on Scholars’ progress and challenges (approximately once a month).

Stay in touch with RU-N’s Cooperman Liaison, regarding CCS students who may need additional support services.
