DUTIES

& RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Reviews third party resources used in Open Learning distance and online courses and by campus faculty in their courses in order to obtain licenses and permissions.

  2. Negotiates terms of licenses and permissions with publishers, authors, artists, web-site administrators and other creators of educational resources to confirm terms of use of third party materials within course content.

  3. Prepares payment requests and carries out financial transactions related to obtaining licenses.

  4. Updates departmental databases to reflect clearance status of third party resources used in course content.

  5. Supports compliance with policies and guidelines related to third party material use by a Canadian post-secondary institution.

  6. Uses discretion as to when a matter should be escalated to the Supervisor of Editing and Copyright.
