The opportunity

The locum opportunity is for an Emergency Medicine Registrar (PGY3+). The hospital is a 60-bed district public hospital with an Emergency Department that operates 24/7 serving a regional population of 19,000 residents with 80% of patients of Aboriginal background. Patients requiring a higher level of care are retrieved by Careflight to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The location

Katherine is located on the Katherine River below the Top End. It is known as the place where the outback meets the tropics. The town is a 3-hour drive from Darwin. Katherine is popular for fishing, stunning natural wonders, and rich indigenous culture. It is best known for the extraordinary Nitmiluk National Park, home to world-famous gorges and rock arts.
