Job Description
Position Summary
Estimator primarily involved in the preparation of the Bill of Materials (BOM) / Material take-off. Collects and evaluates the companys data in order to estimate the costs, resources and labor needed to produce a service or product.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate a structures Bill of Materials, ensuring every item is categorized by number, description, and unit of measure.
- Perform a thorough review of plans or drawings and specifications to understand the full scope of work.
- Maintain and update a Cost Library by analyzing historical company data and current market prices.
- Update and monitor prices of raw materials.
- Suggest alternative materials or brands that meet the project requirements at a lower cost without sacrificing quality.
- Identify necessary machinery, tools and consumables required for production or installation.
