Responsibilities:
Coordination:
Receives and evaluates new donor referrals for transplant, research and/or teaching. Plans tissue recovery (in-situ vs whole globe) and processing (cornea vs sclera). Coordinates casual on-call staff processing activities. Coordinates distribution of import and export of tissue. Donor and Tissue Suitability Determination:
Obtains and reviews information related to donor medical and social history. Performs donor screening evaluation, initial suitability determination for recovery and acceptance of donor tissue for transplant, research and teaching purposes. Tissue Processing:
Logs donated eyes and import corneas. Labels, prepares and sends blood samples for testing. Processes eyes, ocular tissue, amniotic membrane and other donated human tissue for transplantation using aseptic techniques. Documentation and d...
