DUTIES

Make alterations and repairs to uniform and civilians garments, such as pinning and basting trimming, lengthening and shortening sleeves, taking in and letting out waists of jackets, replacing zippers, lowering collars, replacing pockets, lengthening and shortening pants, tapering skirts, and sewing on ratings and stripes.

Take customer body measurements for purposes of ensuring proper garment fit. Receive special orders from patrons requiring affixing of medals, ribbons, badges, devices, ratings, etc. Measures correct placement of items to be affixed; marks, trims, bastes and irons upon completion. Sews insignia on uniforms as appropriate. Operates a sewing machine and maintains working area in a clean and orderly condition.

Operates a cash register, opens and closes register and accounts for all funds. May be required to operate a computer, email system and communicate within the Coast Guard Academy structure.
