:Facilitate genetic testing process, including identification of laboratories, researching appropriate testing and sample submission requirements including preparing genetic test ordering forms in order to support the genetic counselor. Assist in providing patient care related to the clinical program, including collection of medical records/family history, patient telephone intakes, sending out specimens, and coordinating family member testing to create the patient pedigree and prepare risk assessments using genetics software programs. Initiate the documentation of personal and family medical history within the EMR to aid in the genetic counseling session. Complete of informed consent and genetic testing paperwork with patient in order to initiate testing. Discuss cost and insurance information pertaining to genetic testing so patient can make informed decisions. Prepare DNA samples for transportation, box, and mail out specimens to external labo...
