Glass installer

Mounts glass in millwork products, such as doors, home window sashes, china wardrobes, and office partitions. Tasks include preparing openings, inserting precut glass, and ensuring a secure, watertight fit using standard glazing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Insert precut molding into window openings around the sides of glass and tap molding against glass edges using a hammer and wood block.
• Attach molding to the frame using a hammer or staple gun.
• Fasten glass into window openings, driving glazier's points into the frame over the glass with a point-driving device.
• Press and smooth putty into the angle formed by glass and wood to create a watertight joint using a putty knife.
• Optionally spread sealing compound around the sides of the opening before placing glass, using an air gun or blade.
