Hummingbirds - Part-Time

Do you enjoy laughing and feel fulfilled because you have lifted others’ spirits?

Do you have what it takes to make a positive difference to our residents' well-being?

The role of our Hummingbird is to flit around the communal lounge or residents’ rooms, spending a few moments with each one doing or saying something that will be meaningful to them or, perhaps, sometimes, just listening to what they have to say and making it known that they have been heard.

People with dementia need people. Even if they forget who you are, even if there is no conversation, only the touch of a hand, they will know they have been touched. They need those small touches throughout the day, every day. Be it a physical touch, a few words, a song that is precious to them, a short Bible reading or prayer; all these things can make a big difference in the life of someone living in the fog of dementia.
