The Intensive Care Units at The George Washington University Hospital deliver advanced, high‑acuity care to some of the most critically ill patients in the region. ICU nurses here are not limited to a single specialty unit—our team practices across all critical care areas, gaining broad expertise while supporting diverse patient populations with complex, life‑threatening conditions.
Our ICUs include:
Medical ICU – beds: Complex medical critical care
Surgical ICU – beds: Post‑operative and surgical specialty care
Trauma ICU – beds: High‑acuity trauma and resuscitation
Neuro ICU – beds: Neurological and neurosurgical critical care
Cardiovascular ICU – beds: Advanced cardiac, surgical cardiac, and ECMO support
