Job Description
Job Title: Phlebotomist
Responsibilities
+ Perform high-volume venipuncture, completing a high volume of blood draws per day using primarily straight needles and butterfly needles when required.
+ Provide clear, courteous explanations of venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures, such as urine or fecal collection, to help patients feel informed and at ease.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures and protocols to ensure sample integrity and accurate test results.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, verifying all information and ensuring correct patient and test identification.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the specific test order and laboratory guidelines.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer-generated labels against the script or order to ensure 100% accuracy before processing.
