JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of a Medical Physicist directly involves the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of medical imaging modalities.

The quality and safety aspect can be divided into the following three areas:

• Acceptance testing of imaging modalities to ensure patient safety and image quality.
• Periodic evaluation of imaging modalities to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Evaluation after major repairs/service of imaging equipment to ensure patient safety and image quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To sit as a member on any committee to which being nominated.
• To determine radiation doses for various radiologic procedures.
• To perform on call according to operational needs.
• May be required to write policies and procedures for the department of medical physics.
