Mental Health Care Assistant – Waiatarau In‑patient Unit – Te Whatu Ora, Waitemata

Location: Waitakere Hospital

Contract: Permanent, part‑time 56 hours per fortnight, rostered

We are looking for a passionate Mental Health Care Assistant to work in Waiatarau, a purpose‑built Acute Mental Health inpatient unit. In this part‑time position you will work with people experiencing acute mental health problems, relating to and dealing with those who may demonstrate difficult or challenging behaviours. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care and support to patients experiencing acute mental health issues.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality care.
• Manage challenging behaviours and maintain a calm, respectful environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
