Nurse Practitioner II

Overview

Responsible for providing prenatal, postnatal, general medical care and treatment of patients within the Maternal Fetal Medicine division which is a division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Nurse Practitioners are expected to function as an independent provider primarily coordinating pre-pregnancy, prenatal and post-partum care in women with high-risk pregnancies. This position will provide a combination of inpatient and outpatient care duties.

Maternal Fetal Medicine nurse practitioners’ function in an expanded nursing role and perform selected tasks and services within the province of medicine as well as tasks that fall within the province of nursing.  Nursing and medicine must maintain ongoing collaboration in education and practice so that the nurse practitioner is maximally effective in meeting the primary health-care needs of women.  When performing nursing aspects of this role, the practitioner mus...
