Nursing Assistant - Medical Surgical Unit

Summary The Nursing Assistant - Medical Surgical Unit position provides patient care within the ICU, Telemetry, and Medical/Surgical Unit at the Central Iowa VA Medical Center in Des Moines. This position performs activities of daily living and provides a range of care that contributes to the Veteran's treatment plan, recovery, and wellness under the direction of a licensed health care provider. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Manages patient behavior and appropriately intervenes as needed. Participates in treatment team meetings for resident care planning. Monitors and documents patient intake and output, reports any deviations. Performs nursing procedures within scope of practice and according to policies and standard procedures including, but not limited to: enemas, catheterization, colostomy care, skin care, simple dressing, application of braces and prosthetic devices.
