Job Description

About the position

We are looking for a PhD student to join the Section for Biogeochemistry at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management (MINA) at NMBU. The position focuses on nitrogen emissions in European farming systems and is part of the EU Horizon project Nitroscope. The PhD work involves establishing field experiments, quantifying N fluxes with state‑of‑the‑art equipment (field flux robot, autochambers, QCLs, IRMS) and calibrating models for European N flows to support mitigation strategies.

Main tasks

The successful candidate will design and execute field and laboratory experiments, develop and deploy novel field measurement equipment, handle large data sets for modelling, write scientific articles and actively participate in Nitroscope network activities such as workshops and joint dissemination.
