PhD Research Fellow in Statistics and Data Science

Overview

We invite applications for a PhD Research Fellow in Statistics and Data Science at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo.

Position duration: three years. The fellowship includes affiliation with the Norwegian Maritime AI Centre.

Place of work: Department of Mathematics, Blindern Campus, Oslo.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement trustworthy statistical and machine learning methods for anomaly detection in streaming data (time series), with potential extension to spatio‑temporal settings.

Focus on online, real‑time detection with constraints on computational efficiency and latency.

Adapt methods for monitoring maritime equipment performance and health, as well as maritime traffic surveillance.

Collaborate with other PhD candidates, researchers, industry partners, and ongoing projects (SODA, Integreat).
