Job Description: Phlebotomist (Expert Level)Position Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, including venipuncture and general specimen collection
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and prepare specimens according to test requirements
+ Record maintenance data and perform routine decontamination procedures
+ Accurately update and maintain patient information
+ Collect and store specimens in accordance with established procedures
+ Clearly and professionally explain the collection process (blood, urine, fecal, etc.) to patients
+ Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles
+ Review and fully understand physician orders prior to specimen collection
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes with 100% accuracy
+ Verify all test requisitions and labels against orders to ensure correctness
+ Package specimens for transport following proper protocols
