Project: Reconstruction of the Water Column's Physical Properties from Seismic Data (OS2)

The Coastal Oceanography Laboratory (LOC) at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) publicly announces the opening of a Postdoctoral position linked to an innovative research project at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Geophysics, and Oceanography.

We invite researchers with a strong interest in applied science and interdisciplinary challenges to join our team. The project is pioneering in nature and has as its primary objective the reconstruction of the physical structure of the water column - with an emphasis on sound speed profiles-using marine seismic data. The methodology combines acquisition techniques using streamers, Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN), Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) via optical fiber, and complementary data from operational oceanography.
