Job Description
Unlock breakthrough robotic solutions for industry, health and society
Current actuator technologies face significant limitations in applications where compactness, softness, silent operation, and biological compatibility are essential. Conventional electromagnetic motors are often bulky, rigid, noisy, difficult to miniaturize and require power converter for portable settings. As robotics rapidly evolves, new opportunities emerge for leveraging imecs unique technology portfolio in advanced cleanroom processes, micro-scale actuators, microfluidics and energy storage systems. To accelerate our ambitions in this space, we are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to develop a new class of electrochemical actuators that will enable lightweight, energy-efficient, silent, compact, scalable, and inherently safe actuators for prosthetics, humanoid robots and micro-robotics.
