Principal Policy Advisor

About the Role

Lead advisory and policy development on sectoral health and safety issues across work health and safety and energy safety, focusing on regulations, sectoral matters, and operational policy. The role involves strategic and regulatory work, engaging industry stakeholders, and working closely with the Health and Safety Systems Policy Team and other branch teams on employment law and accident compensation policy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage discrete policy issues and reforms, and participate in larger project teams for significant regulatory changes.
• Regularly engage with industry stakeholders to inform policy development.
• Provide high‑level advice that may be discussed directly with Ministers.
• Collaborate with the Health and Safety Systems Policy Team and other branch teams.
• Coach and develop junior policy advisors and support talent growth.
