D6 Unit Profile
An integral part of the Odette Cancer Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the D6 unit is a 36-bed unit focused on caring for surgical oncology patients, including Colorectal, Hepatopancreatobiliary, ENT/Head & Neck, Urology, and General Surgery.
Staff nurses are supported in their skilled growth and development, nurturing leadership roles such as team leaders, council chairs, preceptors, and committee members. The unit environment fosters ongoing growth and leadership development, promoting professional advancement.
Quality improvement (QI) is a strength; nurses collaborate with the interprofessional team on projects to enhance patient care and are coached to present QI projects locally, nationally, and internationally.
