The Institute NOVACT of Nonviolence is a non‑profit association dedicated to conflict transformation and peacebuilding. With more than 20 years of experience in the Euro‑Mediterranean region, NOVACT operates in 14 countries, focusing on civic space, human security, ecological and gender justice, digital justice and preventing corporate abuses.

Project Context

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, local civil society in Kyiv rapidly organized nonviolent actions to counter the occupation. This project, funded by Barcelona City Council under the “Programa de Cooperació per a la Justícia General a Ciutats Específiques 2024”, aims to strengthen democratic governance in Kyiv’s local governments and empower local communities for social recovery grounded in resilience, peace and non‑violence.
