Senior Analysts - Online Gambling Regulation
We are delighted to be partnering with DIA to establish a brand-new regulatory team to deliver the framework introduced through the Online Casino Gambling Bill.
For the first time, this will create a licensing and regulatory framework for online casino gambling in New Zealand.
The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 is a major piece of legislation passed in New Zealand, marking a significant shift in how online casino gambling is regulated in the country and help deliver safer outcomes for communities across New Zealand.
The law was introduced to regulate a previously largely unregulated online gambling sector. Its main objectives are to establish a licensing regime for online casino operators, ban unlicensed operators and advertising, protect consumers and minimise gambling harm and ensure gambling profits contribute to the community and tax system.
