Senior Social Worker - Emergency Department

Summary Sr. Social Worker (Emergency Dept [ED]) independently uses educational training, clinical experience, VA policies & Joint Commission standards to provide services to Veterans referred from the ED, such as, substance abuse referrals, discharge planning, psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, short-term solution focused counseling for those who may be in crisis, education & referral for resources & benefits, brief case management & post-intervention follow-up. Responsibilities Major Duties: Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness. Incumbent incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
