Senior Underwriter, International Casualty

To have the market presence and respect in the line of business underwritten in order to develop further that line of business within agreed business plan parameters. To adhere to the underwriting authority granted. To focus on delivering the agreed combined loss ratio target.

• To assist in the continued development of Markel in SEA and rest of Asia, with a particular focus on the profitable development of International Casualty.
• Build and develop strong relationships with new and existing brokers, other distribution partners and clients. Maintain and regularly update a broker/customer engagement plan for a portfolio of brokers and use this to drive quote requests and conversion.
• Manage a portfolio of risks (including the underwriting of new risks), understand the principles of technical rating engines and monitor portfolio rate adequacy according to Markel’s underwriting principles in line with authority limits
