Service and Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment)

Duties Description The significant number of tasks and duties that are performed within the automotive maintenance shops of the New York State Police and are unique to vehicle maintenance for police vehicles require specialized skills and experience not found in routine automotive maintenance. The Service and Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment) within the State Police structure has two basic duties. First, they must perform skilled mechanical work in the State Police automotive repair shop in regards to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel-powered self-propelled and non-self-propelled motor-driven equipment. Second, they must configure vehicles with special equipment used in law enforcement.
