Role OverviewACV is a technology company that is revolutionizing the automotive industry by building a trusted digital marketplace for used vehicles. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Search infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and data resiliency while driving operational excellence across our distributed systems.
ResponsibilitiesArchitect, configure, and scale Elasticsearch clusters, defining strategies for shard routing, ILM, heap tuning, and data tiering.
Design and implement failure‑mode mitigation such as circuit breakers, backpressure, and asymmetric timeouts to prevent retry storms.
Serve as the go‑to escalation point for complex system degradation, analyzing JVM metrics, GC pauses, K8s network bottlenecks, and slow logs.
Manage ingestion pipelines synchronizing Kafka event streams with Elasticsearch, ensuring consistency and integrity.
