About the role

The New Zealand Financial Intelligence Unit (NZFIU) is a key part of the detection, prevention and investigation of serious criminal offences such as money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing and breaches of international law. This role leads a high‑performing team, delivers strategic intelligence, influences national AML/CFT priorities, drives policy and regulatory change, and keeps NewZealand communities safe from serious financial crime.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver strategic intelligence and risk assessments relating to money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.
• Deliver the AML/CFT National Risk Assessment (NRA) to inform the public of the risks posed by money laundering, proliferation and terrorism risks to NZ.
