Transportation Specialist

Summary About the Position: Serves as a Transportation Specialist for a Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Brigade. Independently plans, coordinates, directs, documents, controls, and expedites the movement of cargo through terminals within the area of responsibility (AOR). Responsibilities Provide customer service/systems training to commercial and military shippers on technical transportation requirements. Provide technical advisory assistance on transportation practices and traffic patterns pertaining to freight which moves through the Area of Responsibility. Coordinate areas such as data capture, cargo documentation and cargo handling to improve efficiency within the Defense Travel System and carrier performance. Coordinate with other entities to ensure training and development of operational plans necessary to meet contingency readiness movement requirements.
